MEDIUMSHIP

What is a medium?

A medium is a person who is able to receive messages from those who have physically died. They provide evidence that our consciousness survives our physical death.

What are the types of communication that mediums utilize?

Mediums describe different forms of communication. Some methods used are:

Hearing messages - some hear spoken words or phrases; others describe recognizing words telepathically

Visual images - many mediums describe "seeing" an image or symbol, and then interpreting this using their own frame of reference. Some actually visualize either parts or full images of discarnate entities.

Feeling - some mediums describe having physical sensations that are communicated by spirit entities.

Smelling - picking up scents that are connected to specific spirit entities

What is the scientific explanation of these phenomena?

There are many theories; however, to date science has not been able to identify the specific process. Current scientists investigating survival of consciousness have accumulated large bodies of evidence indicating that certain mediums can indeed receive information from discarnate entities. The next wave of science will try to isolate the specific principles that enable this communication.

How does mediumship affect the grief process?

Although mediums are careful to point out the fact that they are not therapists, the fact remains that knowledge of a world beyond is perhaps the most effective form of grief therapy. Current research conducted by physicians, psychiatrists, psychologists, and clinicians supports this premise.

Are all mediums the same?

No. It is unfortunate that large numbers of people who claim to be mediums have no such ability. Some have psychic abilitIes and gifted ESP talents, but cannot connect to those on the "other side." Others are simply charlatans or magicians that prey on those in grief. The Forever Family Foundation recognizes the extreme importance of safeguarding the public and identifying those who truly have mediumship ability. To that end, we currently run a medium certification program.

After submitting a questionnaire on basic ethics and practices, mediums are invited to participate in a program that seeks to verify their ability in spirit communication. During these sessions, mediums seeking certification are required to provide a series of readings to different sitters. The information provided by the mediums is scored by the sitters utilizing a method devised by the foundation. In order to pass this certification, a medium must demonstrate composite scores that indicate significant proficiency, providing percentages of accuracy that are way beyond the statistical probability of chance. A Certified medium is entitled to display the following official seal on their literature and website:
